Asian Cantaloupe and Avocado Tartar – with Mike’s Melons
A tropical and refreshing fusion dish that combines the sweetness of cantaloupe with the creamy texture of avocado and the nutty aroma of sesame oil.
Ingredients (serves 2–3)
1 cup Mike’s Melons cantaloupe, finely diced
1 ripe avocado, diced
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon lime or lemon juice
½ teaspoon honey or agave syrup (optional)
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger (optional)
Sesame seeds and fresh cilantro or mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
In a bowl, mix the diced cantaloupe with soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and honey.
Add the grated ginger, stirring gently to combine flavors.
In a separate bowl, toss the avocado with a few drops of lime juice to prevent browning.
To plate, use a ring mold: add a layer of avocado on the bottom, followed by a layer of marinated cantaloupe.
Remove the ring carefully and top with sesame seeds and fresh herbs.
Serve chilled as a light appetizer or alongside sushi, grilled fish, or shrimp.
